Dear Dr. Dinh,
I just wanted to say a BIG thank you to you and your staff. As you know I had a very painful tooth that needed to be extracted and was quite nervous about the procedure. From start to finish you were so kind, gentle and made my every fear go away! At no point did I feel pain or have anxiety when I needed to come in to complete the process. It goes with out saying that I would highly recommend your services to anyone…
Thanks so much for making coming to the Dentist actually enjoyable!
Most sincerely,
Wendy S. Fuld
Do you have a toothache? A broken filling? Swollen gums? A loose tooth? Any injury to the teeth or gums can be potentially serious and should not be ignored. Ignoring a dental problem can increase the risk of permanent damage as well as the need for more extensive treatment down the road. Dr. Nathan Dinh, DDS can take care of your dental emergencies. Call us today and we can see you immediately.
Here's a quick summary of what to do for some common dental emergencies.
First, thoroughly rinse your mouth with warm water. Use dental floss to remove any lodged food. If you mouth is swollen, apply a cold compress to the outside of the mouth or cheek. Never put aspirin or other painkiller against gum near the aching tooth because it may burn the gum tissue. Call the Dental Image Center as soon as possible for emergency care.
Abscess are infections that occur around the root of a tooth or in the space between the teeth and gums. Abscess are serious conditions that can damage tissue and surrounding teeth, with the infection possibly spreading to other parts of the body if left untreated. Because of the serious oral health and general health problems that can result from an abscess, call Dr Nathan Dinh as soon as possible if you discover a pimple-like swelling on your gum that usually is painful. In the meantime, to ease the pain and draw the pus toward the surface, try rinsing your mouth with a mild salt water several times a day.
Save any pieces. Rinse the mouth using warm water, rinse any broken pieces. If there's bleeding, apply a piece of gauze to the area for 10 minutes or until bleeding stops. Apply cold compress to cheek area if there is swelling. Call the Dental Image Center as soon as possible for emergency care.
Retrieve the tooth, holding the crown and rinse off the tooth root with water if its dirty. Do not scrub or remove attached tissue fragments on roots. If possible, try to put the tooth back in place. If its not possible to reinsert the tooth in the socket, put the tooth in a small container of milk and see Dr. Dinh immediately. Reinserting the tooth back into the socket within an hour of being dislodge has the highest rate of success.
If the crown falls off, make an appointment to see Dr. Dinh as soon as possible and bring the crown with you. If possible, slip the crown back over the tooth.
